ROGER ENO/PLUMBLINE
TRANSPARENCIES
HYDROGEN DUKEBOX

Yes, it’s Bryan’s bro’, here collaborating with New York’s Will Thomas, who likes to be known as Plumbline. Of course there’s an artisitic concept afoot – Roger recorded himself noodling on various ketyboards around varuious churches and buildings in East Anglia, also capturing passing cars, etc. Bit of a Moondog approach here. Then he gave them to Mr Plumbline, who chopped and fondled them while adding subtle rhythms and synths. The mood is pastoral, ambient and wafting. Tracks like ‘Every So Often’ carry a melodic melancholy, while ‘Sodium Highlights’ gets quite stately. If you’re into Harold Budd – or indeed Bry when he gets his ambient head on – you’ll float ceilingwards to this like the biscuit-crazy dog in the cartoons.
