As expected from Hilton Smythe, invites are handed out to a sizeable dancehall & rap guestlist for a slap-up roll-up and rinse-out. Pushing the furniture back so he can stack speakers, Sizzla, Smiley Culture, Wayne Smith and Rhythm & Sound get the mantelpiece shaking, and Manuva’s hip-hop chronicles read like a photo album of scene development, starting at Spoonie G, passing via LL Cool J and Mantronix, and then ending up at new breed genre screwers New Flesh, Taz and Wiley. Ricky Ranking and Jimmy Screech do RM’s label promotion, and Grace Jones’ appropriate eccentricities close Rodders’ latest goods delivery.
