Far from being a random collection of doodles, this particular Skechbook is actually a well crafted finished article. Essentially ambient, it’s pretty energetic at the same time, as the early tracks ‘Cause and Effect’ and ‘Besides’ signify. ‘Multiples’, meanwhile, ups the beats and shows the trio’s knowledge of where the dancefloor is and how to use it. Most of all, the impressive thing about Echaskech os the group’s ability to make the most of potentially minimal elements, resulting in a whole that is interesting throughout – and rewards close, repeated listens.
