SHUT UP & DANCE
THE GREAT BRITISH PUBLIC (ALBUM)
SHUT UP & DANCE MUSIC

Mick Jones and Tony James have been releasing tracks as Carbon Silicon since
2003 via the internet only. In the process, they’ve turned into a shit-hot
live band, cemented by rhythm section Leo Williams coming in from Dreadzone
on bass and drummer Dominic Greensmith. Over their propulsive bedrock, Mick
and Tony build insanely-catchy melodies and pyramids of primal rock ‘n’ roll
guitar power on a set of songs which show today’s young pretenders how it’s
done. They’re mixed by Clash studio veteran Bill Price too. The lyrics are
the best representation of 21st century Britain to be encountered all year
but also highly personal, humorous and darkly provocative on tracks like
‘Caesars Palace’ and ‘War On Culture’. That’s just two – there’s twelve
anthems here on what could be the album of the year.
