Here’s one of those gems that pop up out of Sonar Kollektiv’s sonic scrotum
every so often, featuring Michael Baumann aka Soulphiction pursuing his 2006
album State Of Euphoria, along with a host of other productions for labels
including Perlon and his own Philipot/Phil E imprints. The album again
features the ghostly vocals of Suzana Rozkosny, opening proceedings with the
strange, drifting ‘Chevy Estate’, while ‘Prison Song’ features Marcin Oz
from Whitest Boy Alive. The sound can veer between dancefloor workouts to
the deep jazzy house of ‘Cargo’. Hiphop and ethic influences waft through,
even western samples on ‘Soul Print’. Impossible to pin down to any one
style and all the better for it. Just one of those albums with its own
unique, heady atmosphere.
