Whoops, another corker which slipped through my tech-net but it’s making such a glorious noise that even the chemical toilet has sprouted legs and put on a party hat while small voles masturbate gleefully nearby. Here we have Kompakt’s mighty duo Michael Mayer and Superpitcher joining forces, employing instruments from trumpet to guitar, writing songs, singing them while still whipping up chuggingly-insidious hallucinogenica. They can happily re-enact the theme from The Godfather before nicking a Gerry & The Pacemakers song title to mine deep acidic house, while the closing Cocktails For Two could be theming a horror movie with its haunting bells. Busting out of the underground into rave review in the Sunday papers, this marvellous album can be seen as something of a landmark.
