This is an album that holds a bit of a debt to the 80s, in particular electronic textures enjoyed by Depeche Mode and New Order. Yet it’s also a record that builds on those really well, adding to the breakbeats or four to the floor house beats a real sense of atmosphere. Despite their name the duo, Charles Cooper and Joshua Eustis, are based in Chicago – and the music sometimes gives that away in its cool updated house sounds and softly atmospheric vocals, which are never short of emotion. Production is excellent and the whole thing is expertly crafted, resulting in an album you’ll want to soundtrack your blissed-out moments.
