A slight variation for The Gasman’s fourth full-length album as he ventures further afield from his usual spliced, diced, processed and reserved IDM and hardcore motifs. For “Audiogold”, there’s the feeling of progression, as electro, acid and other elements start to creep into the mix, particularly on the excellent “(mx90)” and “personics”. It all sits very well with The Gasman’s penchant for wiry, breakneck amens and retwisted hoovers, and of course his trademark ability to flip the whole thing on it’s head, adding impossibly fragile synth melodies when you least expect them. Electro or acid, the king of otherworldly IDM is most definitely still The Gasman.
