The Herbaliser plan to take London by infiltrating every musical genre, or so it seems! There’s a huge variety of styles here, from the group rap posturings of ‘Generals’ to the languid, nocturnal ‘Close Your Eyes’, one of four tracks featuring the delectable tones of regular Jean Grae. The real winners, though, are the tracks where the boys flex their muscles and get the funk on – the piano led ‘Geddim’ and the brassy ‘Gadget Funk’, two superb tracks worthy of any US detective series. The album’s tendency to dart around may be a bit confusing, but it’s an exciting experience.
