The Micronauts
Damaging Consent
Citizen

The Micronauts is actually just Christopher Monier who, very commendably, started his career last century by launching a fanzine called eDEN. He then set off on projects including Nature, Discotique, the Eurostars, the great Impulsion and this one for labels ranging from Fnac to Loaded. This decade saw Christopher  retreat to his native France embracing the digital way of working under the Micronauts tag. Now comes a full high-profile album, released on Dijon’s Citizen label. It’s complex, genre-straddling stuff, always morphing, mutating and often startling with the grooves and sounds which come and go through tracks like the acidic ‘Get Down’ and sleazy electro-house of the opening ‘Reaction’. Throughout it’s dreamily percolating floor-friendly tackle with never a dull moment. There’s also the huge bonus of a CD containing some of the many remixes Christopher has done for the likes of Underworld, the Chemicals, OMD, Mirwais and Death in Vegas where, if anything, he pushes the sonic boat out even further.
