King Street Sounds

Tiger Stripes is the brainchild of producer Mikael Nordgren, and the Stockholm-based houser likes things to be uplifting with a touch of soul. ‘Safari’ is his debut album and the brightly coloured artwork suggests some hot treats in store. Certainly ‘Spirited Away’ has a touch of the samba, while ‘Amphytrion’ is nicely hypnotic. Kerri Chandler features on the solid ‘Song For Edit’, which is ironic as ‘People I Know’ sounds more than a little like ‘Bar A Thym’. The closing ‘Rasmus’, however, is a more convincing floor filler on an album that majors on nocturnal, slightly deep house music but manages to cover a few more bases along the way.
