Buzzin’ Fly

Ben Watt should be roundly congratulated for his achievement with Buzzin’ Fly since its inception in 2003, especially as this coming together of ‘Up’, ‘Down’ and ‘Forward’ shows what has been reached musically. ‘Up’ revisits such class acts as Watt’s own ‘Pop A Cap In Yo Ass’, with the more recent Radio Slave mix of the label’s first album artists, Mlle Caro & Frank Garcia. ‘Down’ is where the real deep house treasures lie, as we move from incredibly soothing music from Kayot and Unity to the thump of  the bass drum in Jimpster’s ‘Square Up’ (the John Tejada mix) and Barbo’s softer tones in ‘Barbi In Love’. CD3 is mixed, and again finds that blend of ambience and energy the label does so well in its deep house. Not only that, the outfit finds itself ideally poised for future progression.
