Its that time again as this latest instalment from the Southport camp proves that when it comes to music that matters these compilations are hard to beat. First up is a man who needs little introduction, Mr. Tony Humphries who as ever blends together a soulful selection of songs with consummate ease. Tracks here include the fresh update Rosie Gaines ‘Closer than close’ and DJ Spinna’s tasty remix of ‘Spinning inside your love’ by Robert Strauss. Disc two then has DJ Spen’s mix which has a tougher, though no less soulful, feel to it and quite simply is the business. Opening with Ron Hall’s exceptional ‘The way you love me’ and ending up with Blaze’s aptly titled ‘Wonderful place’ this mix is quality personified. Great to hear some creative mixing going on too, alongside such an impressive selection of styles. Bring on Volume 5.
