As with ‘Music to Watch Girls Cry’, Votel is the ultimate exponent in space storage/vaults emptying, getting his shoehorn to work overtime to fit in a ton of room-trashing funk and oddity. The whole seedy saga has its delirium powered by foreign language cuts delivering instant sleaze shots, brain-frying instances of library card rage, human soup operas, rough covers of The Monkees, James Brown and Otis Redding, and instruments challenging the barriers of scuzz with the dirtiest organ, guitar and violin solos going. The mixing’s a tad stop-start, worse for wear after Votel’s mangling gear has gone to work.
