It’s always good to listen to some balmy vocal house in the middle of winter, as it reassures you that warmer climates and dancefloors await in the summer! This pair from Need2Soul explores house music as dressed with soul, Latin and Afro influences among other things, doing so under the guidance of Benji B and Glenn Underground. Benji B’s mix is in truth a little disjointed, starting with the gospel house of the Celestial Choir’s ‘Stand On The Word’, but moving about between styles a bit too much perhaps as it progresses. That said, Womack & Womack’s ‘Conscious of my Conscience’ is a real plus towards the end, and tracks from Ame, Serious Intention and Deetron are welcome. Glenn Underground introduces more of a jazzy, Latin feel to the mix, with tracks such as Nick Holder’s ‘Summer Daze’ and the Masters At Work remix of Misia’s ‘Melody’ bringing plenty of warmth. Feel good music for sure, and in the second mix especially a vibrant blend of styles.
