Good to see NRK continuing what looks to be a fine series, after the first pair of mixes from Loco Dice. Steve Bug, as you might expect, goes very deep, but there’s always a sense of progression through his mixing. In the first set the music takes on a dubbier edge, staying with four to the floor but working interesting rhythms through Chateau Flight’s remix of Sideshow’s ‘If Alone’, Jay Tripwire’s ‘Save Each Other’ and Nick Sole’s ‘Simple Things’. CD2 continues the cultivated deepness, but this one gradually finds a sharper edge, with Joris Voorn’s mix of Bug’s ‘Swallowed Too Much Bass’, Art of Tones’ ‘Call The Shots’ (the MCDE mix) and Peace Division’s ‘Eh Oh Um’ bothering the lower end of the bass spectrum. Two fine deep house mixes to lose yourself in, with enough tension to keep you listening closely.
