VECTOR LOVERS
CAPSULE FOR ONE
SOMA

In the year since Martin Wheeler unveiled his eponymous debut album his Vector Lovers brand name has appeared on a succession of remixes and trailers for this stunning second album. It’s been a fascinating case of maturing and exploration as what started as a kind of glacial synthesis of Moroderesque atmospherics and future-electro has evolved into a unique and intoxicating realisation of Martin’s emotions through the machine. An original ethic of techno which few really manage. The second album is more introspective and melancholy but also mines new seams of fierce techno-funk, as on the epic sinbgle ‘Boulevard’. It might be just me but tracks like ‘City Lights From A Train’ and amazing ‘Microtron’ recall innovative New York composer Moondog. Martin even makes his vocal debut on the pained ‘Melodies And Memory’. Forward-thinking music with pods of soul. Something of a masterpiece.
