Will Saul’s Simple label is taking more than a few plaudits at the moment for its atmospheric music, and the owner’s debut album will add a few more to the list. ‘Space Between’ is a record of many styles, taking dub as a starting point for deep house, easily paced breaks and electric soul.
Subtle is the word best capturing Saul’s approach, as he has a talent for economising his music without it becoming boring. Ursula Rucker, Sandy Mill and Lizzy Parks add excellent vocal contributions, with Saul content elsewhere to work his minimal instrumental magic. An impressive piece of work!
