601
Dirty North – Album
Polar Ed

There’s clearly a love of the many changing and evolving sounds of electronic music over the years apparent here, and 601 seem intent on letting everyone know they have been listening carefully to Detroit techno, old school and acid house and have combined these elements with a love of the broken beat to create an immediately recognisable album that explores these sonic themes. There is a clear leaning towards the left and an almost Warp-esque quality to some of tracks that veer into familiar leftfield ambient drum and bass textures that evoke the past music of Autechre and Plaid. I would say the overriding sound is the filthy acid tweaking that they clearly love so much. A cohesive mix of styles to keep you interested in the clubs and at home!
