Deekline and Wizard are one of the hottest name in breaks when it comes to incinerating crowds. Their secret ingredient seems to be an appreciation and assimilation of Detroit booty-bass. After all Motor City back alley speed-funk is dirty breaks speeded up with a larger-than-life personality riding on top. This is now gloriously brought to the fore by the duo teaming up with none other than DJ Assault, for years one of the foremost purveyors of ghetto-tech. The killer touch is that he swerves from his usual arse-homaging to occasionally drop a classic line from ‘Last Night A DJ Saved My life’ or ‘Planet Rock’, from which elements appear over the pulsing beats. The SOTO hookup with toaster Top Cat is also cool with its lazy ESG-type groove and melodic explorations. A fairly monstrous set all round.
