Classic presents Demuir & Friends

Regular readers know how much we dig Classic. Whether it’s the weird leftfield shit or the timless jacking house they knock out, more often than not it’s quality tackle we cain in our sets. The latest effort from Demuir is no exception.

The EP sees him drop three tracks, with ‘My predictable locals’ a tracky groove that is polished enough to add an extra bolt of impetus early on without sacrificing it’s heads down appeal. ‘Here’s to Friday’ lets Cynthia Amoah extol the virtues of that weekend feeling over a classy jazzy groove, imperious soulful house business, but the real winner for us is ‘Story of a DJ’.

It sees him team up with bumpty bump legend Mark Farina for a slow burner which makes brilliant use of almost latin esque percussion, expert filter action and a brilliant vocal of a DJ being interviewed about his come up in the early eighties. Listen to it over and over again and you’re in danger of UV damage the sunshine it exudes is that potent, and it’ll sound equally good in an intimate basement where you can feel every grin on the floor.
