Since ’93, Tommy Hamilton and Keith Tucker have been shadowy figures pioneering the Detroit electro-bass sound as kicked off by Cybotron – the toughest, most uncompromising in the world which makes a lot of what passes for electro today seem overcooked and silly. The pair have been off doing various projects over the years, but now return with their first full album project which, quite naturally, appears under the auspices of kindred spirits UR. The tracks are hardcore 80s-style interplanetary beatbox assaults with titles like ‘Detroit Non Stop’, ‘We Are The Future’ and ‘Lost In Outer Space’ setting out their stall with sinister treated vocals and minimal decoration. There’s a booting rework of their classic ‘My A.U.X. Mind’ and an overall atmosphere which seems to be booming out of the Earth’s core when its not beaming in from the outer galaxies. True originals at work, protective clothing optional.
