DJ Godfather
The Detroit Connection Part 3 (For The Freaks)
Matrix Music

Following Kevin Saunderson and DJ3000 laying down respective sets of classic and multi-strained techno, the decks are now thrown over to the Motor City’s dirtiest, street-level form of dance music: ghetto-tech or booty bass, whatever you want to call it. Since the music started infiltrating discerning record boxes during the last decade, DJ Godfather has lived up its name as one of its most relentless protagonists. Like a bastard offspring of electro, Miami Bass and hiphop, the music is raw and basic, often delving into X-rated lyrical territory, like Detroit’s take on Carry On movies or, at its extreme, gutter level obscenity or street corner banter. In this merciless compilation, Godfather bangs down 66 tracks, assisted MC-wise by DJ Omega in what’s purported to be the world’s first ever completely digital mix series using Scratch live technology and tracks only available digitally. The roll-call includes DJ Rashad, DJ Nasty, DJ Surgeon, DJ Spin, AUX 88, DJ Deeon, Erotek, Aaron Carl and the man himself. Wired, speedy, crude and exciting in Godfather’s all-out assault. Just the thing to fire up when things are getting a bit bland or the current electro-derivative is sounding a bit weak!
