Sideshow is a side project for Ninja Tune’s Fink, released on a new label
started with collaborator Will Saul [unfortunately only available on
download apart from a run of limited CDs]. 2004’s ‘The Slide’ was thrusting,
groovy and atmospheric and marked Mathew Jonson’s first remix. Both versions
are here accompanied by sinister dub workouts like ‘You’ve Changed Dub’
[inspired by jazz innovator Keith Jarrett], the blues guitar-caressed ‘Music
For You’ and grainy minimal of ‘Polar Bear Dub’. He lets more remixers have
a go with Lee Jones tackling ‘Bhalobashi’, John Tejada smearing electronic
hallucinations over ‘Scary Biscuits’ and Jesse Rose hotwiring ‘Philly
Soundworks’. A veritable hotbed of electronic foraging.
