Joey Negro
The Many Faces Of Joey Negro
Z Records

I first encountered Joey Negro aka Dave Lee back in 1988 via his Republic Records. An instinctively great label for no other reason than that it had the foresight to license classic’s like Phase II ‘Reachin’ amongst many others. It also acted as a springboard for his initial production’s which then promptly exploded with the subsequent Z Records imprint. This collection covers the Z era so you don’t need me to tell you just how many great tracks you’ll find on here, from Sunburst Band ‘Far Beyond’ to Erros ‘Change for me’ the list goes on. The two CD set comprises of both his own and other peoples remixes of his productions so if nothing else diversity is guaranteed. Joey Negro’s influences are plain for all to see as you’ll not only hear Acid squelches but soulful voices and great songs from this UK institution.
