You know it’s party time when DJ Cash Money steps to the decks, and even though he’s not the most prolific performer to come out of Philadelphia, when he puts his name to something, it’s always a bit special. “Kickin’ Flava” sees him working through a mess of underground hip-hop and funk titles, throwing in the occasional classic old-school or nu-school joint along the way, and even side-stepping into some reggae jams. Tracklists? Of course not, but you shouldn’t have too much trouble spotting Q-Tip, Nas, Pharrel, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, etc. Naturally, the mixing is razor-edged sharp, cutting up just short of 60 tracks in under eighty minutes. Hip-hop manna for b-boys and girls old and young.
