A double CD mix project from the UR legend, which follows up 2003’s ‘Nite:life’ mix for NRK in fine style. Apart from doing Los Hermanos with Gerald Mitchell, this is, of course, the man who created ‘Knights Of The Jaguar’ but, as this superlative selection shows, there are many more strings to his bow. CD1 is a delicious house and techno set which takes in major items like Carl Craig’s remix of Theo Parrish’s ‘Falling Up’, Trevor Rockcliffe and Blake Baxter’s recent ‘Relax’ and a string of other impressive characters such as John Thomas, Kerri Chandler, Nick Holder and Hipp-e. It closes with an unreleased Rolando tune called ‘In-Transit’, which is climactic and beautiful. CD2 is the afterhours stretch which straddles jazz-house, funk, deep house and an unexpected dip into reggae with Trackheadz’ ‘Jah Shall Come’. Near the end comes Derrick May’s ‘Sueno Latino’ mix, which is still one of the most beautiful tracks of all time. One CD leaves you jumping, the other leaves you in a state of euphoric calm. It can’t be recommended highly enough.
