Paul ‘Scuba’ Rose is one of the UK’s dubstep pioneers but started swinging Berlin’s musical tides when he relocated there in 2007, releasing his groundbreaking debut album, A Mutual Antipathy, the following year to great acclaim. This compilation is centred around Paul’s Sub:stance club nights which have become the music’s hotbed over there, presenting names including Sigha, Airhead, Joy Orbison [ho ho], Surgeon, Ramadanman, Shackleton, Joker and Paul himself, uncurling those stuttering beat suggestions, spooky electronic textures and vast lower frequencies.
