ISM is a brand new label from the Heavenly Recordings camp, and it kicks off
with a corking limited edition 12”, from Anne, Mark, Cardiac & Edith,
collectively known as Clarky Cat. ‘Sightline’ is their electrifying debut
release, coming in on a funky jerky post punk groove The Gang Of Four would
be proud of. Clarky Cat have also managed to capture some of that early
Factory Records energy in their sound, but ‘Sightline’ also sounds bang up
to date, with it’s hooky but slightly trashy guitar riffs, building around
Robert Smith style vocals, uplifting, claustrophobic and battered by driving
beats. Clarky Cat’s ‘Sightline’ puts smudged eyeliner pop sensibilities
firmly on the dancefloor.
