The men behind the mask are Theo Keating (aka Touche) and Simon Lord, here stitching together a wide cross-section of electronic beats for the aptly titled “Mixtape” compilation. Boy-8 Bit, Armand Van Helden, SMD, Ben Westbeech, Gossip, Alter Ego, as well as several exclusive Black Ghosts re-tools and original compositions. It’s a coolly entertaining listen, mixing the hyper quick-edit mish-mash style of B-more with more typical British breaks, electro, pop, techno and electronica, that all conquering bass making sure it’s presence is felt throughout. Props to the Ghosts, too – their productions stand head and shoulders above what is a (mostly) tough set of tunes to beat. Beat-matching fun from start to finish.
