3D – Roger Sanchez
Renaissance

In the late ’90s Roger Sanchez’ own brand of chunky, deep house music became a distinctive sound on UK dancefloors, a trend he consolidated with the excellence of ‘I Never Knew’ and ‘Another Chance’, among others. It’s good to have both on the ‘Studio’ mix of this 3D compilation, which follows the traditional format of a mixed club disc to start and an easy going set to finish. While the DJ’s own stuff on CD2 is the highlight, superbly mixed as well, CD1 is more like one of his current DJ sets, thanks to the likes of Wally Lopez, The Transatlatins and Louis Botella. At ‘Home’, Sanchez reclines to Massive Attack, Finley Quaye and the Tom Tom Club in a pleasingly eclectic selection of come down tunes. Well worth investing in.
