A COUNTRY PRACTICE – DJ WOODY & SEAN VINYLMENT
WOODWURKS

DJ Woody will be a name most will recognise .  After winning the UK ITF & Vestax battles, he went on to become the first ever non-American to be crowned the World ITF champion, before winning the 2002 Vestax Extravaganza World finals over 14 other countries.  He’s also worked with Vadim’s One Self outfit, and provided deck duties for a long list of hip-hop luminaries, including Eminem, De La Soul, and Dilated Peoples.  DJ Woody & Sean Vinylment (one of Manchester’s premier beat diggers) first met  running the hip-hop club night “A Country Practice” (hence the title), and now collaborate – Sean provides the rare records, Woody applies the hands-on finesse – for a mix CD that’s hip-hop in it’s basest sense.  Nearly an hour of elongated breaks, basslines and musical passages flipped, scratched and manipulated, sometimes so subtly you have to listen twice to identify the handiwork as something apart from the music.  It’s a masterclass in how to make a turntablist mix that will appeal to both the casual listener and the hardcore fan.  Jaw-droppingly awesome.
