ANJUNABEATS VOL 5 MIXED BY ABOVE & BEYOND
ANJUNABEATS

Need to hear a bit of Bob James over Visnadi’s ‘Racing Tracks’?  How about prog-heads Hawkwind mixing it up with Boards Of Canada? Or maybe you’d just prefer classic disco and funk jams like The Paper Dolls or Parliament.  Whatever your musical predilection, Norwegian disco hero Prins Thomas will have something to satisfy it.  After years steadily crafting a reputation for that unique, sparse brand of dubbed out modern house via his Full Pupp label, not forgetting numerous remixes – and productions with studio partner Lindstrom – Thomas finds time to releases a double mix CD of suitably leftfield club grooves.  Slo-mo disco, druggy rock, odd-footed electronica, modern acid classics and the just plain weird join up for two hours of raucous fun, building up to some delirious climaxes along the way.  Don’t be fooled by the slightly tongue-in-cheek title – Prins Thomas is in full-on party mood.  Hard to pick a highlight, but you should watch for the soon-to-be-huge Zombi, Musiccargo, the ace pop weirdness of The Honeymoon Killers and the modern disco of Unabombers’ remix of Electric South.  An amazing mix debut – will keep you in the mood for partying from now until Christmas 2008.
