Hailing from Bergen, Norway, Annie first hit the headlines with her debut release ‘The Greatest Hit’ for Telle Records. Well since then Annie has signed to K7! Releasing a string of top notch singles & the critically acclaimed album ‘Anniemal’. Won over crowds at festivals on a global scale, & worked alongside as many credible artists as you could shake a stick at.
So this brings us to her Dj’ing, & if you was to lump her in with a gang, it‚d have to be Soulwax, Trevor Jackson, Erol Alkan etc. ‘Annie – DJ Kicks’ opens with the highly amusing Toy ‘Rabbit Pushing Mover’, & then goes on to include Suicide’s Alan Vega with a rockin‚ ‘Jukebox Babe’, those fashion dahrlings Le Tigre make an appearance with the excellent ‘Nanny Nanny Boo Boo’, Death From Above 1979’s anthem ‘Black History Month’ is here & ESG’s ‘My Love For You’ pops up, as does a couple of Annie’s own tracks ‘Wedding’ & Gimme Your Money’. But the surprise cut that blows your socks off is Bow Wow Wow’s ‘I Want Candy’, I forgot just how good this is. This is an inspiring set that has loads of fun and would rock any club worth it’s salt.
