‘Balance 10’ was a highly varied and effective triple set from Jimmy Van M,
a DJ hugely respected by John Digweed and the like. This mix offers an extra
look at how Jimmy approaches peak-time DJing, and impresses with its energy and structure. Gliding effortlessly into the underlying rhythm with
Moonbeam’s ‘Uaret’, the mix hits its stride early with the nocturnal house
of Martin Buttrich’s superb Planet Funk remix ‘Static’. Making a strong
impression also is the weird electric harp play of Zidan Style, Chaim &
K300, the beefy Smith & Selway remix of Mauro Picotto’s ‘Maybe, Maybe Not’ and finally Francesco Pico’s ‘All By Myself’, where the music pulls back for a spacious breakdown. If you got ‘Balance 10’, you know just what to do.
