Three releases in, and the excellent Coast 2 Coast series from NRK strikes gold with the classy Mr Ron Trent. His open and more obviously human style of mixing means he takes plenty of time between tracks, setting an ideal tempo for classic vocal house that never falters. Highlights are Roland Clark’s falsetto in ‘Sunshine’, atmospherically caught by Trent in the mix, and a rather sultry ‘Trinidadian’ from Patrick Green. A mix that puts you under its spell, whether in uplifting vocal or nocturnal instrumental mood – and a worthy addition to the series.
