Eight tracks in seventy minutes implies DFA have too much to say in their second set of remixes, but that’s far from the truth. Even the quarter-hour given to Unkle’s ‘In A State’ is well spent as a hypnotic mix unfolds, and Tiga’s ten minute ‘Far From Home’ is superbly treated, building to an overwhelming rush of studio noise. With elastic bass lines given to N.E.R.D., Hot Chip and Junior Senior there is some serious funk going on here, not to mention a few exhilarating drum fills. More than just a trendy name to drop, this is a collection of complete reinvention’s to savour.
