Various Artists ‘Disco Circus Vol.4 Mixed By Mighty Mouse’ (Bears Eat Fish)
Dan Perkins
‘Disco Circus’ has been an extremely well planned and received series by Mighty Mouse, and the fourth volume continues the winning blend of disco past and present, while never taking itself too seriously. CD1 is paced to perfection, kicking off with the chugging ‘Spaceship’ of Triangle Sun and moving through to piano-led hands in the air anthems like Phonetica Vs. Soulemotion’s ‘Impossible Love’, presented here in its Casio Social Club Acid Sunrise remix. Believe me it’s worth the long title! Further treats in store on this mix come from Lusine (‘Another Tomorrow’, one of their excellent new tracks) and Lindstrøm (‘I Feel Space’). CD2 picks up where this leaves off, with some strange grunts and orchestral ponderings that can only mean the Mungolian Jetset are about to get into gear – and they do with their brilliant remix of Ost & Kjex’s ‘Milano Model’. This serves as a springboard for a second feelgood set, where the Drop Out Orchestra, Rainer Wechhold and Mirror People spread the love, along with Mighty Mouse himself on the completely carefree Sunset mix of ‘Love Is Gonna Lift You Up’. A blissful two hours are in store once you buy this!
