Prior to setting down this mix DJ Format hadn’t actually spun a single record in Fabric, thanks to an inconsiderate fire alarm. Now he has though, and is able to commemorate it with a set of big, outgoing hip hop and raucous soul cuts. The hip hop strikes first with Lyrics Born, Coldcut and two Format cuts, then the set moves on to some wildly varied stuff from Nina Simone, the Karachi Prison Band and the wonderful Ananda Shankar. A striking mix that holds the attention the whole way through.
