Good on Sven Vath’s Cocoon label for documenting Germany’s ‘Green & Blue’
festival in its third year, and if you listen carefully you can hear the
excited whoops of a satisfied crowd in the background. First up Locodice,
whose set majors on sparsely textured house, bass driven but with minimal
sound effects that still do plenty to keep the music driving forward,
particularly towards the end with Philip Bader and Loud E. Then over to
Ricardo Villalobos, who goes for a funkier, more immediate house sound to
start with, Delano Smith and Kids in the Street both excellent tracks, and then the mood darkens and goes deeper with Darth Vega and Patrik. A good collection for those who like their house dark ‘n’ groovy.
