John Acquaviva’s new mix takes no prisoners in an uncompromising opening of minimal tech house, its economy epitomised by A 2 Z’s use of a one note theme for ‘Sugar Fix’. Billed as ‘the true electro experience’, it’s a mix that manages not to stay one dimensional, growing through the weird breakdown in Damon Jacomotto’s clever ‘Walking On The Moog’ (it sounds like he is!) to the vocal/snare cut-up of In-N-Out. This is a versatile set, and adds a few cooler moments with tracks like D-Nox’s ‘7 Hours’ taking the pressure down a gear or two, before the original sound world returns for the closing Groove Dust track ‘Flash Down’. Throughout the mixing is top notch, and hopefully this will be the first of many in the series.
