OM’s willingness to push the boat out a bit in house music works really well here in the Winter Sessions, where Justin Martin takes on atmospheric techno/house hybrids and Johnny Fiasco mixes a set of more upfront, groovy house. Fiasco takes a while to shake off a few jazzy noodling gremlins though, toughening up with DJ Disciple’s excellent synth-driven ‘Deco Underground’ and his own ‘101’, remixed by Joey Youngman. Martin’s easier pace flows nicely with man of the moment Claude Von Stroke in fine remixes of Soul Avengers and Andy Caldwell, ably supported by Mike Monday’s ‘I Dream Of Ducks’ and Iz & Diz’ ‘Magnificent’. A fine pair of winter warmers.
