There’s been a good amount of hype around the James Zabiela/Nic Fanciulli alliance, with the obvious comparisons harking back to a certain Sasha and John Digweed. Happily on this occasion the hype is justified, for there’s a real chemistry between the pair. Over the course of these two CDs, they complement each others’ strengths – Zabiela presumably responsible for the forward thinking electronic house of Shane Berry and Paul Woolford, with Fanciulli the man for atmospheric house from Deep Dish, Funk D’Void and R3volve. Imaginative mixing sometimes brings two tracks together or at others spins out longer, more sparse cuts. Both mixes are packed with cracking electronic music though – house, breaks or otherwise. A very fine release.
