It’s a long time since I heard a house mix that starts with so much energy as this one. Steve Porter kicks into action immediately with house-breaks hybrids from Gaz Nevada, Nixon and Chris Micalli – all excellent, funky stuff and mixed really well, moving through the cracking Plump DJs’ anthem ‘Blackjack’ to a hugely uplifting closing section. CD2 is a leaner, tougher beast that rocks the floor with Slacker, Shiloh, Rogue Element and Roger Lee, like CD1 making the effort to include new talent. Fifty seven tracks here altogether, with Porter taking their best elements and delivering a funk-fuelled treat – one of the best mix sets you’ll hear this house year.
