Taking ‘serve’ literally and supplying us with some lovely artwork based on tennis, Hed Kandi have come up with a compilation that manages to sound as good as it looks. In fact this time they seem to be pushing the net out a bit further with several aces (and there the tennis references must stop!). Long Range, Blue States, Neon Heights and a surprisingly good chill-out version of Stonebridge’s ‘Put Em High’ from Claes Rosen are the highlights of CD1, with even Blu Mar Ten’s cover of the Cars’ ‘Drive’ not too cheesy. Meanwhile the second disc looks to the ever-reliable Chaz Jankel, Track & Field’s ‘We Was So Close’ and other delectable items from Kenneth Bager, Greg Churchill and Furry Phreaks for its kicks. In truth, this is excellent throughout.
