The two sides of Curtis Jones collide here on the latest ‘Sessions’ release. As Cajmere he’s straight down the disco, including three DDajae frontedcollaborations and also taking in exultant house from Copyright (‘He Is’), Africanism and Mark Grant. The Green Velvet mix meanwhile is a different story, stripping back the vocals and going straight for the jugular with a jumping techno mix of twisted funk. The biggies are here – ‘Flash’, ‘La La Land’, ‘Electricity’ – but pounding instrumental versions of ‘Spin Spin Sugar’ and Fedde Le Grand sit well with the white noise rush of Paul Woolford and Alex Marqx. Breathless and invigorating.
