If you’ve just been to The Big Chill you’ll be wanting this first instatement of what the summer festival does best, if you haven’t I’d politely suggest you buy into it anyway. Now in its twelfth year the lifestyle event seeks to capture its diverse essence over two CD’s and conjures up everything from the sublime to the just pain bizarre along the way. From key influences like John Martin and Nick Drake to newer tracks from Jose Gonalez and A Man Called Adam, via Nouvelle Vague’s curios take on ‘Blue Monday’, this refreshing sequence always manages to keep you turned on and tuned in. I like the fact that its not all beats and basslines, though they do occur, and that Sparks uber cool ‘Perfume’ is included. For the occasional hippie in everyone.
