The occasional ‘City Life’ series moves on from New York and London to Florence – and finds Bini & Martini hitting form in their ‘Ocean Trax’ mix. The chunky beats of Gianni Bini presents Dublin’s ‘Mr Nasty’ get them off to a solid start, as do the vocal contributions to Creavibe’s ‘Wonderful Life’, in bouncy club mix form. Later the mix toughens up, with Audio Unit’s ‘Club DJ’ aping Van Helden to good effect, before returning to soulful vocal house. Meanwhile the Presslaboys’ ‘Press Lab’ mix occupies the deeper, more mellow end of the house spectrum, with Moody Mas and Corrie in particular evoking a hot summer night in their tracks. A good pair of mixes that complement each other well – though Bini & Martini’s in particular is hot stuff.
