With Deep Dish’s previous mixes for Yoshitoshi to hand it’s still something of a surprise when a mix on the label bursts out of the blocks like this one does. With a powerful beat and bassline, Sultan’s own ‘No Why’, featuring Zara, sets the tone for a mix of rock solid house beats and sexy vocal hooks. These come courtesy of Narcotic Thrust, Joe T Vanelli and the 16 Bit Lolitas, while Sultan pulls a nice trick out of the hat by suddenly dropping the tempo for his closing track ‘Night Visions’, a softly nocturnal finish. Unashamedly direct and free of pretence.
