Deetron is in good company with his contribution to Belgium’s really rather good Fuse mix series, adding his name to the likes of DJ Hell, Steve Bug, Dave Clarke and Adam Beyer with this live mix. It sticks to the essentials, mixing up classic era defining house tracks like Fingers Inc’s ‘A Path’ and Mr Monday’s ‘Future’ with sleek, undulating techno from Space Time Continuum, Salvatore Freda & Volta, Iron Curtis and more. Better yet, there’s a few genuine surprises – names that stick out in a ‘that shouldn’t work’ kind of way on first reading – but prove to be killer combinations when heard. Deetron’s style is classically simple, merging tracks smoothly with no fuss or frills, meaning the sense of groove and pace builds throughout to a genuine hands in the air conclusion. Spot-on tune selection and perfect mixing, this could be a template for how to do a classic mix CD. 100% recommended.
